For the ‘Rarer than Diamonds’ exhibition at e.g.etal, our artists have designed jewellery that celebrates the incredible natural formation that is a diamond, in all and any of its forms: from traditional brilliant white to black, brown, uncut, reclaimed, icy and other unusual variations.
I have created a series of silver lost wax cast rings which include black rough diamonds and uncut cube diamonds.
The black diamond floats between coral fans like debris caught in the fleshy structures. Having scuba dived the Great Barrier Reef for over twenty years, Kathryn is concerned with its decline in health. This series of rings is both a celebration of the preciousness of the reef and a lament for its deterioration.
